How it all started?
Five years ago, in 2016, we would have never dreamed we’d be doing this and traveling around the state of Florida selling our puzzles and other items at Craft Shows.
Our youngest daughter, Lily, was two years old and like any two-year-old, she had a lot of toys. Her toy boxes, notice I said "boxes", were a bunch of cardboard boxes spread throughout the house. So, me and Destiny decided we needed to get a toy box for her. We searched Craigslist, thrift stores, etc. and couldn’t find anything we liked, and anything we did like was outrageously priced. So, I told Destiny we could build something and we did.
I’ve been around woodworking all my life. My dad and uncle both did woodworking which was passed down through generations. Friends of my dad when I was growing up did woodworking also, so I’d always be around watching and would hammer on a piece of scrap wood thinking I was building something. As I got older I took woodshop in High School. Even have a tiny scar on my right hand thumb from the bandsaw in the high school shop to prove it.
After high school I didn’t do anything woodworking until it came time to build the toy box.
We decided to build a toy box and I didn’t have any tools other than a drill and hammer so I went to Lowes and bought the lumber, and had them cut it to the sizes I needed since I didn't have a saw. We got some screws and some stain, some pre-cut letters at Michael's, and built Lily her toybox which is still filled up today with Barbie dolls and everything else.
By building this toybox I guess you can say it lit a spark and got me wanting to do it again and as they say, the rest is history.
